Basic Box Construction

Learn the fundamental skills for building your own decorative wooden box made from fine hardwoods and veneers.  Use it for jewelry or as an organizer for your everyday items.  You will gain experience on the table saw and router table as you practice frame and panel construction,  rabbet joints, tongue and groove joints and double dados.  You will also learn a clever technique to hinge the top using the drill press and brass rod.   Simple veneering techniques will be used to apply a highly figured veneer that will become the focal point of this fine piece.  At the end of class a hand rubbed finish will be applied.
